All White Salmon Boat Works canoes and sea kayaks are made with extreme care. By doing so we ensure that each kit will be easy to assemble and free of any hidden complications. All of our kits come with compete help support - either by email, digital photographs, or by telephone. If you are within 50 miles of our shop we will come over to you home if needed.

Many people have enjoyed building woodstrip boats from our kits. When you decide to purchase a kit from White Salmon Boat Works, our main mission is to have YOU the customer experience the least amount of problems in assembling the kit along with the greatest amount of enjoyment in building and finishing your boat.

White Salmon Boat Works has been building boats for many years, and we have spoken with a variety of different types of want-to-be builders, either at fairs, shopping malls, boats shows, or with the person who walks into our boat shop. So throughout the years we have developed what we think are a few good time tested kit scenarios for our customers. We use only the finest of materials in each kit we put together, such as: Tight Bond II glue, System Three SB 112 boat builders epoxy, Z - Spar's Flagship Varnish, full length, clear and knot free western red cedar milled to`1/4" x 3/4" x ? - length of the boat selected.

Our kits prices may cost a little more than many other kit builders, however when you compare the contents of our kits with other providers, you will easily see the value you receive. We are THE ONLY kit provider that supplies the complete strongback and the saddle supports. Many people who purchase a basic kit are already handy in working with wood, have the necessary tools and they feel comfortable reading plans and following instructions. The cost may also be important to them.

Full Canoe Kit

The folks that purchase our full kits range from the inexperienced to those who have built many boats; many are repeat customers. Some are my former students who want another boat or a different model other then the one they built in my shop. Many do not have the power tools to construct the parts that the basic kit does not include. Price doesn't seem to be as important to full kit customers who want "no-hassles" in assembly, and want all the parts in one well marked pile, so they can go right to work. Unlike other kit suppliers, we construct each strongback, and align & number every part. Plus we supply the canoe saddle for working on the inside of your canoe. We then disassemble and carefully package everything for shipment. You will receive all the necessary parts needed to put your boat in the water. The kit includes everything from masking tape for the forms to varnish for the hull. Compare our list of supplies and parts with other maker's of canoe kits. You then will see they real value we offer. All kits come with Western Red Cedar for the strips, White Ash for the deck plates, seats, thwarts and gunnels. Extra cost for other types of wood and for laminating wood for seat, thwarts.

Please Note: Due to the increase cost of shipping I have changed some items in the kit. I no longer ship the full strongback - its the weight factor.

Instead I build a strongback, mount and align the forms. I then dismantle it and ship you the strongback deck plate. The deck plate shows the centerline and station position. Just build your own strongback with two by fours and add the kits deck plate.
